Ausschreibung Marta-Walter-Preis 2026

Die Schweizerische Musikforschende Gesellschaft (SMG-SSM) verleiht alle zwei Jahre den Marta-Walter-Preis (vormals Handschin-Preis) für eine herausragende Promotions­arbeit im Bereich der Musikforschung. Der Preis ist nach der Schweizer Musik­wissenschaftlerin Marta Walter (1896-1961) benannt, die mit ihrem Legat an die SMG die finanzielle Grundlage des Preises gestiftet hat. Das Preisgeld beträgt 3.000 CHF. Die Preis­verleihung findet im Rahmen des 4. SMG-Studientages statt (25.09.2026, Luzern).

Bewerbungsberechtigt sind Doktorierte, die ihre Promotion zwischen dem 01.01.2024 und dem 31.12.2025 einschliesslich der Verteidigung abgeschlossen haben und

• das Schweizer Bürger:innenrecht besitzen und/oder

• an einer Schweizer Institution promoviert haben und/oder

• an einer Schweizer musikalischen Institution mit einem Pensum von mehr als 25% seit mindestens 12 Monaten angestellt sind und/oder

• mit ihrer Dissertation einen relevanten Beitrag zur Schweizerischen Musik­geschichte leisten.

La Société Suisse de Musicologie (SMG-SSM) décerne tous les deux ans le Prix Marta-Walter (anciennement Prix Handschin) à un travail de doctorat remarquable dans le domaine de la recherche musicale. Le prix porte le nom de la musicologue suisse Marta Walter (1896-1961) qui, par son legs à la SSM, a fourni l’assise financière du prix. Son montant s’élève à 3 000 CHF. La remise du prix aura lieu dans le cadre de la Quatrième journée d’études de la SSM (25.09.2026, Lucerne).

Les candidats pris en considération doivent avoir achevé leur doctorat, y compris la soutenance, entre le 01.01.2024 et le 31.12.2025, et

• sont des citoyen(ne)s suisses et/ou

• ont obtenu un doctorat dans une institution suisse et/ou

• travaillent dans une institution musicale en Suisse avec un taux d’occupation de plus de 25% depuis au moins 12 mois et/ou

• apportent avec leur thèse une contribution substantielle à l’histoire de la musique en Suisse.

La Società Svizzera di Musicologia (SMG-SSM) assegna ogni due anni il Premio Marta-Walter (in precedenza Premio Handschin) a una tesi di dottorato di particolare rilevanza nel campo della ricerca musicale. Il premio porta il nome della musicologa svizzera Marta Walter (1896-1961) che, con il suo lascito alla SSM, ha fornito la base finanziaria del premio. L’importo è di 3 000 CHF. La consegna del premio avrà luogo nell’ambito della Quarta Giornata di Studi della SSM (25.09.2026, Lucerna).

I/le candidati/e presi/e in considerazione devono aver completato il proprio dottorato, inclusa la difesa, tra il 01.01.2024 e il 31.12.2025, e

• essere cittadini/e svizzeri/e e/o

• aver conseguito un dottorato presso un’istituzione svizzera e/o

• lavorare in un’istituzione musicale in Svizzera con un grado d’occupazione superiore al 25% da più di 12 mesi e/o

• apportare con la propria tesi un contributo sostanziale alla storia della musica in Svizzera.

Every two years, the Swiss Musicological Society (SMG-SSM) awards the Marta-Walter Prize (formerlyHandschin Prize) for an outstanding doctoral thesis in the field of music research. The prize is named after the Swiss musicologist Marta Walter (1896-1961), who donated the financial basis of the prize with her legacy to the SMG. The prize money amounts to CHF 3,000 and the award ceremony will take place during the 4rd SMG study day (25.09.2026, Lucerne).

The SMG/SSM will consider applications by researchers having obtained their doctoral degree, including the defence, between 01.01.2024 and 31.12.2025, and

• who are Swiss citizens and/or

• who have obtained their doctorate at a Swiss Institution and/or

• who work at a Swiss musical institution for more than 25% for more than twelve months and/or

• whose dissertation constitutes a substantial contribution to the study of Swiss music history.
